Bebas Neue is a sans-serif font type that was established in 2010 and is considered to be one of the more daring and utilisable to date. It was made by Ryoichi Tsunekawa of the Japan based type foundry, Dharma Type as a new generation Bebas that was designed originally by Ryoichi Tsunekawa Sr in 2005.
History
Bebas Neue might be recognized as the new development of the Bebas font that has been drawn by Ryoichi Tsunekawa in 2005. Bebas is a typeface derived from Japanese street signs based and meanted to be as an optional replacement for some of the most common fonts of its time. Also, its drawback was the sorting of character set and lack of lower case letters in Bebas typeface.
A slightly writsgs larger version of Bebas was released by Tsunekawa in 2010 known as Bebas Neue in response to the original call for a typeface that was more extensive in its options. In Bebas Neue certain novelties were introduced: the typeface maintained the gutsy and clean look of the original, while the lower case was introduced, as well as expanded character set. This version of the typeface was made adaptable, and the original typeface was used for a wider range of design projects.
Bebas Neue can be exemplified in brands, advertisements, and even editorials, to mention but a few design domains.
