Century Schoolbook is a serif font of the 1920s, an ATF type created by Morris Fuller Benton in 1919. Benton developed it and mostly applied it to create texts for learning purposes. On the one hand, it has a classical look which is quite okay in terms of readability and that is where it has many more potential uses than just educational one.
The American Type Founders Company popularly known as ATF designed the Century Schoolbook typeface for schools and other publishing firms. At this time, Benton, a noted designer in his early days, introduced several popular typefaces that may have inspired him to design a font that would not only be outstanding but attractive.
