Cooper Black Font

Oswald Bruce Cooper created Cooper Black an extra bold roman face, from the Cooper Old Style which he also created and which was released with Barnhart Brothers & Spindler Type Founders in Chicago. Copper Black was launched by Barnhart in 1922 and was bought by Schriftguß AG in Dresden in 1924 where it was followed by an italic version. Cooper Black was designed in the first third of the 20th century but it does not look dated today and can be seen on signs in most urban environments. Due to the smooth lines of the outer contours the type face has rather robust as well as soft shapes and thus is very suitable for various purposes.
