Effra is a more than just a humanist sans serif font designed by Fabio Luiz Haag and Jonas Schudel and released by Dalton Maag in 2008. It combines the sharp edges of a grotesque with the roundness of humanism, thus creating a friendly but still very contemporary look. Its architecture comprises of perforations with balanced shapes and smoothed curves hence it has a simple yet clear and accessible appearance. This makes Effra suitable for both digital and print uses; from user interfaces to editorial layouts.
All of the five styles of Effra—Light, Regular, Medium, Bold and Heavy—come with their respective italics. The italics are a slightly slanted style, so they look like they are moving; however, they are still easy to read. Effra has a nice sight composition and even stroke thickness, making it suitable for both headings and body texts and ideal for logos, business and edutainment websites. Furthermore it has many language support and contains many OpenType features like ligatures, fractions and alternate characters to make it more functional.
