Gill Sans Font

Gill Sans is an ultra-modern, single story face with humanistic characteristics in the proportions of its serif forms. Monotype company released Gill Sans® in 1928 to 1930 by the English artist and type designer Eric Gill. Gill Sans can be said to have been developed from the typeface that Gill’s teacher Edward Johnston designed for the London Underground Railway in 1918. Gill’s alphabet is much more classic in proportion and includes the now famous flared capital R and the eyeglass lowercase g. It also has a very British flavour to it. While all of the typeface is reasonably modern and quite legible, the lighter weights are good for text, and the bolder weights create rather attractive display typography.
