Manufaktur is a sans serif font family based on a cast iron sign on a Swedish industrial machine. In the early 20th century, this gas-pipe sans-serif design was adapted for modern use. Its pure and smooth shapes are in synch with the current era, and it has numerous variations in width and weight as a variable font.
The typeface contains ligatures (small characters with lines below them) and small capitals that act as conventional lowercase letters. It can also be easily adjusted in terms of width and weight using the sliders or code in OpenType enabled applications or websites. Although both Photoshop and Illustrator have adopted this feature, InDesign does not support it yet.
Manufaktur is suitable for display designs, signage, posters, prints and editorials, branding and logos, magazines and films and more. It is versatile and flexible due to its variable weight and width. For those who do not like custom widths and weights, the font family has predefined weights and widths.
