The Nike logo utilizes a sans-serif italic typeface which bears a resemblance to Futura Bold Condensed Oblique, a font originally designed in 1928 for Bauer Type Foundry and later refined for eighteen years by typographer Paul Renner.
Nike, a widely-recognized American brand, controls more than 60 percent of the athletic footwear market. Nike Group, as we know it today, originated from Blue Ribbon Sports, a company founded in 1964 to sell Onitsuka Tiger sneakers to athletes. Phil Knight, the co-founder, changed the company’s name to Nike in 1978. In 1971, Kight moved to own manufacture of shoes wearing the Nike brand, keeping sewing-shop for that purpose.
