Palatino font is a serif typeface by Hermann Zapf and was issued in the late 50’s from the D. Stempel AG in Frankfurt am Main. This, Zapf refined Palatino for legibility and came up with a typeface that even on the poor quality paper that was in use after the Second World War, was still very readable. Zapf decided to call it after Giambattista Palatino, a scripts master of the period of Leonardo da Vinci. Palatino is an Old Face font, and this is the best example that classic styles can be used to design new fonts.
