Tekton Font

The release of Tekton Pro, Adobe Originals typeface scaled up for OpenType, adds new possibilities to one of Adobe’s most widely used fonts. Developed by David Siegel and first introduced in 1989, Tekton is one of the Adobe Originals that were based on the chalk-and-pen handwriting of the architect and writer Francis D.K. Ching. Siegel, who was once a draftsman, developed Tekton with architects in view—appropriately, the name Tekton comes from the Greek word for builder.

Whereas originally Tekton was developed for the architectural profession, it soon found its way to many other people. Due to its open and minimalistic design the font is suitable for technical and architectural designs but with its handwritten appearance it will appeal to a broad audience. It has therefore paved way for many uses of Tekton and can be used in invitations, signs, and correspondence among others.

The Tekton Pro typeface has now been further developed to suit the present-day designer and has recently been launched. It has more weights and widths than before and also an extensive character set which supports more languages and even more symbols. As a result of improved kerning, the text alignment is smoother and more precise and therefore, Tekton Pro is not only more versatile but also suitable for advanced typographic designs. These improvements allow designers to apply Tekton Pro in various types of projects, including print and digital, with the same level of readability and a warm feeling.
